Named after Gujarat’s Gir forest, Gir Cow is known for its high fertility and milk production rate. Featured with convex forehead, long facial structure, pigmented glowing skin and long ears, this breed of cow basically belongs to Zebu breed of cattle. This breed of cow reaches to its gestation period during its 20 to 24 months of age. Gir dairy animal can endure humidity and high temperature prone climactic conditions and it has high immunity power. Cakes of cottonseeds and groundnut, fodder and straws of bajra are its main food. Long life span is one of the main features of Gir Cow.
