Also referred as Thari/Grey Sindhi/Cutchi/White Sindhi, Tharparkar Cow has been named after Thar Desert located in Rajasthan. The breeding area of this cow spans in different regions of Western India. Notable for its medium size and distinctive gray or white color, this breed of cow is capable of enduring high temperature which is common in desert. It survives on sewan grass during shortage of fodder and drought condition. Known for its high lactation rate, Tharparkar Cow is used to produce synthetic crossbreed dairy animal (Karan Fries) in dairy research institute of Karnal. The milk produced by this cow is known for its high nutritional value.
